Lithuania now has substantial legal arguments to deny access for electricity produced in the unsafe Astravyets Plant

On 7 February 2019, the Meeting of the Parties to the Convention on Environmental Impact Assessment in a Transboundary Context (Espoo Convention) in Geneva definitively concluded that during the construction of the Astravyets Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in the vicinity of the Lithuanian border and Vilnius, Lithuania’s capital city, Belarus had infringed three articles of the Convention thus failing to justify the selection of the construction site and consult with the countries that are most likely to be affected.

Rail Baltica developing efficient and sustainable energy supply system

The joint venture of the three Baltic states RB Rail AS has commenced the Study for the Development of the Rail Baltica Energy Subsystem Procurement and Deployment Strategy. The contract for the delivery of the Study was signed in January 2019 with the Consortium INECO – ARDANUY, consisting of Ingenería y Economía del Transporte S.M.E.
